Zwaar karakteristiek amberkleurig bier. EBC 41.

Drunk this on tap under the currant name, must say this better than the bottle version. Bottle 0,3ltr: Winter ales supposed to be warm and spicy and have some roasted malts, maybe use some of chocolate and caramel, but this one don’t have it all. 2.8 score

2002 version. Tiny bits of yeast float through this beer. No head. Portoaroma. Yeasty raisinny flavor, very alcoholic and prickly with porto and some tropical fruit. Poor quality compared to the great Belgian strong ales ( 6 2 6 2 10 = 2.6) 2006 version: reddish orange color. Malty, syrupy aroma with a hint of licorice. malty, suagry sweet flavor. Distant hops and a hint of lciorice. The alcohol is hidden by the sweetness. Chewing gum. Nice, clean, inoffensive, powerful and likeable barley wine. The quality of this beer has improved considerably over the years.

Drinks like a nice malty amber ale of about 6% abv. I would never guess it’s 10%. But it certainly doesn’t have that typical nice belgian flavour, just a nice slight sweet amber. online Beerwulf bottle. 3.7, upgraded to 3.8, nice barleywine taste

F: thin, tan, quick gone. C: coppery, hazy. A: malty, caramel, vaguely fruity, toast, sweet grassy. T: malty backbone, caramel, fruity, toast, almonds, dried fruits, dark cherries, medium to full body, low carbonation, not bad, bit too sweet and simple yet enjoyed, 25cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop.

Bottle. Dark amber coloured, small head. Dried fruits, black cherry, caramel, alcoholic notes. Bittersweet. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, boozy finish. Okay.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2017) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, raisins, caramel and vinous aromas of alcohol. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, brown sugar, caramel and a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Strong and vinous, but fairly well balanced, tasty and warming. Nice one.
