Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

Elegant, innovative, complex: Black Tuesday provides a uniquely elevated beer-drinking experience unlike any other. Rich, complex flavor from time spent aging in bourbon barrels mingles effortlessly with distinct notes of crème brûlée, poached figs, and milk chocolate. Surprisingly smooth at 19.7% ABV, this is a beer you won’t soon forget.

750 mL bottle poured, generously shared by Tcon. Thanks for sharing this one! Long wait to finally get a chance to sit and pick apart this beer. Bottle aged one year, though I have no real experience with any other vintage. Poured a bit cold at first. A ton of chocolate, dark fruits bordering tart. At first blind taste, I thought this leaned more towards a barleywine over an impy stout. Quite boozy. Guessed in the 17 to 18 range, so apparently on the smooth side all things considered. This beer really shines as it warmed up. A ton of bourbon that comes through. Thick, rich with caramel, but less sweet than I would expect. So much chocolate and smooth bourbon holds on forever in the palate. This is a bottle that is brilliant to open early on in the night, and sip on. It refuses to get old. Probably one of the best of all the really big beers I've tried, being above the 15 or so range. Incredible beer here.

19.5%. Extreme great deep fresh nose. Great deep fresh intense beginning. Lots of deep brown sugars, plums, raisins, chocolate. Fantastic deep, nice brown molasses with an extreme deep aftertaste.

Soy, chocolate syrup & bourbon booze. You can feel every o/oo of that ABV.

Sample at MBCC 2017. Black with a small tan head. Sweet with dark malt, caramel, oak, some vanilla and hints of fruit. The body was full and the finish long with warming alcohol. A beer to sip.

0,05l from tap shared by / with the crew during mbcc red session. black color, almost no head. smells of booze, coconut, some dried fruits, sherry, bit oxidized, light sweetness. very nice smell. full body, no carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of molasses, boozy, wood, coconut, sherry, some dried fruits. finishes lightly sweet and rather boozy with notes of sherry, coconut and some molasses. very nice one, but also very boozy, how you could drink more than a couple sips of this is beyond me. 8, 4, 8, 3, 15
