Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks zvikar. Black, tan head. Roast, coffee, dark chocolate, sweetish, bitterish finish, medium to full-bodied. Very nice.

Malziger, dunkel getreidiger Antrunk. Weich und trocken, intensive Schokoladenaromen. Würzig malziger Mittelteil, der Roggen kommt stärker zur Geltung. Vollmundig schokoladig bitterer Nachgeschmack, trocken, Nuancen von Alkohol zum Ende. 13/11/11/12/9/12

Pitch black, oil slick looking deep body with hardly any head at all, sho5wing about 95% opacity. Aroma of chocolate, deep roasted malts, licorice, vanilla, oak, rye, cream and some strong fruit sweetness - deep and super pungent. Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavours show with anise, licorice, canella, cream, light chiles and a touch of oak. Aftertaste shows, interestingly enough, some watery flavours, but the deep roasted malt, earth, grain, rye, chocolate and coffee really come through as well - interesting. Overall, a well-balanced stout, but I wouldn’t say this is ’imperial’, but that perhaps is a good thing. Deep and strong flavoured with a good look and smell, and nice set of complexities. Good to try and interesting, but of course, on the expensive side. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Leuken’s Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 03-October-2015 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington a few hours before a winter storm may come through here on 21-January-2016.

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent (I think) consumed at Thistledown Farm campsite Friday 11th September 2015 with Baz. Pours black with a light beige head. Wonderfully rich and velvety with chocolate the prominent flavour, it really is hugely cocoa forward but damn good quality addictive cocoa, a little fine sediment mouthfeel. I am amazed that I had not rated this before as I’d had this perhaps a couple of times. Malty with the hops (pine) also now showing, also like the fact that compared to many Impy Stouts this is actually not that strong. Really like this, beer of the weekend. A8 A4 T8 P5 Ov16 4.1
