Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks anders37 for getting me this one! Hazy golden-amber with a white head. Strong aroma of citrus and a bit of pine. Strong bitter flavor of resinous hops, some grapefruit, some fruity notes and light malty sweetness in the back. A very long bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Not very balanced but tasty.

11.2 oz bottle shared by Enniskillen. Nose of ivy plants (simcoe is the hop I get this particular odor from when it’s in a beer), a little sweetness, and a touch of caramel maltiness. Cloudy copper with a medium glass-lacing offwhite head. Flavor of ivy with very strong bitterness.Finish is bitter with a hint of sweet.

Bottle. Look: Orange, white head. Smell: Cookies, sweet citrus. Taste. Citrus sweetness, more bittterness in the aftertaste. Overall: My favorite of all the single hop IPA:s.

Pours a hazy amber with a massive head (I can only get about half of a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass on account of the 4 finger head.) Aromas are thick with pineapples & grapefruit. Flavor is more of the same, with an emphasis on the grapefruit part of the agenda. Malt is sufficient enough to keep this pleasing on the palate... a sweet caramel backdrop plays nicely against the hops. Finish is a lovely bitter grapefruit and pineapple mixture.

Nice hazy copper/golden coloured body with a very thick and dense tan head - nice! A lot of suspension throughout with a bit of bubbles rising from the bottom as well. Aroma of fresh hops - very strong with a very floral and citrusy aroma, potent malt and a light bit of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive hops up front with a lighter a.a. content, a malt backbone that suffices and a mild sweetness. Aftertaste is very mild - a bit of hops, some sugars, but not much else - hardly any hop bitterness. Overall, a good beer, but I don’t see what all the fuss is about - there are much better IPAs out there! I enjoy the ’single origin’ style, but I would hope they try it with different hop varieties. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased yesterday (21-March-2009) at CityBeer in San Francisco, California, sampled today (22-March-2009) at home in Washington.

Pours hazy dark orange with a tall frothy off-white head. Citrusy grapefruit aroma. Bright hop bitterness at the front, then fruity malts and a pineapple hop finish. Full bodied, yet the creaminess keeps it light.

Bottle: A hazy copper pour with a nice, thick beige head. Aroma is pungent with citrus and sweet fruity notes. Weird, at first it seemed floral? Tastes more malty than expected; a light citrus and floral hoppiness takes over in the tail. Soapy and lingering finish. Just run of the mill. Thanks Bert!

330ml Bottle (Pikkulintu,Helsinki) - Hazy amber in colout. Hoppy aroma with tea and grapefruit. Bitter and hoppy taste with pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of tea. Drinkable and tasty enough but I don’t think it’s worthy of the great reviews on here.
