The Monk’s Stout Dupont is part of the Brewery Dupont’s history. Indeed, it was produced in the 50’s. The aim is to revive this stout while maintaining the name and the design of the time.
Created in 2011, this dark beer is characterized by a dry and bitter taste. The use of roasted malts lends a well-pronounced taste of coffee and chocolate. The hop flavours remain perceptible though.
Top fermentation beer with a refermentation in the bottle.

Sample from bottle at 5th Logitech bierproeverij. Color: Black, very light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, fruity notes. Taste: Roasted malt, blueberry, caramel and chocolate notes. Over medium body, average carbonation. Sounds better than it is, unfortunately. Ok but nothing special.

Bière bue aux chevrettes des terrils à rieulay. Jolie robe brune, mais reste une bière plutôt classique, pas assez de notes torréfiées à mon goût.

Incredibly bitter. Huge overtones of burnt coffee.

Clean, mildly roasty coffee notes, perfectly drinkable but nothing remarkable

@home poured into a pint glass. Roasted malts nose. Deep black colour with a ruby hue against the light, good moussy beige to tan head, good retention, light lacing. Roasted aroma, sweet malts, cocoa powder, coffee, hint of liquorice.Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, roast, dark chocolate, coffee groundings, sugary notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, malty bittersweet aftertaste, some cardboard, ashy notes, good stout, enjoyed this old style Belgian stout.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Wijzinnig, Gendt. Black with an big tan head. Roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits and some licorice. Taste is bitter at first, sweet in the middle and ends with a bitter finish. Nice and smooth.

Bottle as part of a delivery from the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark brown, opaque with a loose tan head. Liquorice, stone fruit, spicy yeast notes in the aroma. Taste is sweet with light notes of cola nut and more liquorice. Touches of medicinal bitterness in the long finish. Cocoa bitters in the aftertaste. Very heavy carbonation. Very nice!

BB 12/2020, Lot 18506A;Quite an unusual aroma of cheese rind, hard cheese, hints of vegetables & a mixture of herbs that luckily fades away & gives room to hard caramel candy, toast, crust, light barley coffee & some roasted malts, subtle vinous & iron notes
