Warming, malty and fruity. Pale and amber malts contribute to a mouth-filling and satisfying Horlicks and biscuity maltiness. Challenger and First Gold give a base note of herbal hop and Fuggles as a late hop contributes the main fragrant fruity and floral and spicy notes. Fermented slowly to give just enough fruity esters Abbot Ale provides a complex, satisfying and warming experience.

Cask @ JDW Shrewsbury Hotel. Deep amber appearance, small off-white head. Good rich caramel action here, lovely clarity of flavour, excellent condition. Decent.

A British classic, looks like an old fashioned British beer and by Jove tastes like one! Pours a deep, clear amber, approaching brown colour, with a frothy white head. The aroma sits in between fruity and malty, with a certain sweetness to it, and that sensation carries on into the flavour, with a nice amount of bitterness in the finish to round it off. A relatively heavy beer, with a creamy mouthfeel and a nice blend of flavours.
