Warming, malty and fruity. Pale and amber malts contribute to a mouth-filling and satisfying Horlicks and biscuity maltiness. Challenger and First Gold give a base note of herbal hop and Fuggles as a late hop contributes the main fragrant fruity and floral and spicy notes. Fermented slowly to give just enough fruity esters Abbot Ale provides a complex, satisfying and warming experience.

Cask at Black Prince, New Haw. Malty aroma. Amber with a creamy white head. A boozy chemical sweetness, but not in a bad way! Medium bodied. Slick. Flat. Abrupt. OK actually. Was expecting something far more bland.

Cask at The Farmhouse, Kesgrave. Pours clear amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel and hop. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft to fine carbonation. Fruity sticky perfumed finish.

Cask at Dandelion, Philadelphia. Colour is clear orange with almost no head. Aromas and flavours: Harshness, some ripe fruits, tartness and some malts. Pretty old condition.

Cask at Woollen Mill, Hungry Horse pub, Darlington. Deep amber colour, white foam head leaving lacing and slight malty yeasty aroma. Taste is fruity, malt, sweetish, bready with tangy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy bitter finish. Quite OK.

From cask @ The Diamond, Londonderry. This one has a darker golden colored body, a bit of a blur and in the top a relatively medium sized cask bubbly off-white head. It smells quite good. Kinda floral and grassy. Sweet diacetyl, white sugar. Nice in a cask way. Tastes decent also. It's really creamy and smooth both in the mouth any on the bubbles. Mild bitter, some birch. A little sweet yeasty melony thing in the finish. Wood also, and I could swear I tasted alcohol in the aftertaste. Nice enough this. Easy to chug down for a thirsty guy. 07.06.2016

On cask. Deep orange body, thin white head. Aroma and taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, floral hops, orange zest and some butter. Nice one.

Cask at the moon under water jdw Watford. Mid copper coloured pour with a speckled cream coloured pour. Aroma is sweet and tangy , grain husks, some toffee apple, some solvent. Flavour is composed of brown sugars, stewed veg, pumpkin, toffee apple, brown sugar. Palate is grainy, sweet malts, tangy. Rough round the edges. Meh.
