Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, nutty, dark malt, moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090123]

Cask handpull at The Rake. Imagine loving T’bridge Hall brewery and living in the WRONG Ashford. I cry almost nightly over it. Lots of toast and malt and some good hop on the finish. Really drying on the finish. Great to watch the brewer, Kelly, sink a pint of this and the smile on his face. Obviously very happy with how it turned out. This is a very drinkable, tasty brown ale style beer with a really toasty drying flavour and finish. 3.3/5 Re-rate Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Really good, better than at The Rake at the meet the brewers. No diacetyl. Very solid brown ale. Good malts, like a more mallty Lord Marples from the same brewery.

Cask @ the Beer Table. First US rater, woohoo. The pour is hazy dark brown with a foamy, thick cask head. Aroma is apple and wet, earthy leaves representing the malts. Taste is a bit empty with a light grape and lightly musky British malts. Its a very easy drinking cask brew but doesn’t really displaying anything else worth mentioning.

Cask at the Red Lion (JDW), Heanor, Derbyshire. Chestnut with a thick tan head; sour cherry fruit aroma; creamy chocolate malt flavours; dry sustained bitter finish. Rather good.

Cask at The Fat Cat, Tavern, Sheffield, ’The Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire’ on the Valley of Beer Day 16-08-08 Pours chesnut in colour with a white head. Some toffee an malt on the nose. This is very, very drinkable nice amount of sweetness and lacking in the big hoppiness of some Thornbridge beers, but really very good. I had this later in the University Arms and never realised that this was one and the same beer as it was called Belay Bob in that pub, pleasingly I also gave it 3.7 and described it as ’Conker brown with white head, tangy toffee a little dark sugar, nice maltiness. I’m quite chuffed and rather pleased with my consistency. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov15 3.7 Had this again on Cask, handpump at The Dragon, Tything, Worcester, 15-05-10 Pours reddy brown with a touch of haze, caramel and nutty in mouth little chewy its ok but not as good as when i had it last time.
