Extremely rich and malty German-style lager, so intense that it’s named after our founder! Karminator Doppelbock has a traditional double-bock flavor, brewed with an over-abundance of the absolute highest quality imported Munich malt to create an irresistible toasted barley flavor, with hints of caramel & toffee. Alot of care, time, and know-how has gone into creating this complex, memorable, and majestic lager.

Draft @ beertemple. Aroma of caramelised malt and wheat. Flavor of sweet ripe dark fruit, figs, caramel, raisin and some booze. Like a mix of doppelbock and us strong ale.

Sampled draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Deep red amber, small tanned head. Nose is hugely sugary, candy, light Churchkhela, syrupy, thick candy with some cough syrup, interesting & pleasant smell. Taste is unfortunately overly heavy on very herbal & very thick cough syrup, herbal licorice, candy, red grapes, molasses. Lower carbonation. Too much herbal cough syrup for me, interesting but not really for me.

Bottle bought and generously shared by Craftmember, from Delirium Hoppy Loft. Hoppin’ Frogs top-fermented take on the German Doppelbock style. Thin, lacing, stable, pale beige head over a hazy burgundy coloured beer with reddish glow. Rich and beautifully perfumed aroma of melting milk chocolate and Belgian chocolate ’truffels’, hazelnuts, vanilla, touch liquorice, kahlua, caramel, Worcestershire sauce, marmelade, baked banana, madera, marzipan, even a suggestion of coconut. Sweet, soft, fluffy onset, very caramelly, Belgian chocolates, dates, almond, banana cake, umami flavours adding complexity, slight hint of soy sauce, bready malts, smooth with a toasted touch, very light but well-dosed sourishness as well as a light spicy hop bitterness in the end, remaining in the background not to overpower the feast of malts as it ought to be in a Doppelbock, and some warming, bourbon-like alcohol. Adorable, this brewery is gradually conquering the malthead in me...

On tap at the tap room, nitro edition. A creamy finger thick off-white head forms over a hazy chestnut colored body. The aroma is quite malty, with toffee, bread, nuts, some dried fruits and brown sugar. It’s full bodied super smooth and lightly warming on the palate. Caramel, bread, dark sugar and dried fruits in the flavor. Lasting finish with too much sugary sweetness. A bit heavy on a hot summer afternoon, but sure nice. 150616

650ml bottle. Hazy chestnut colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, ochre-ish, beige head. Multi-layered dark malty aroma has sweet, herbal, spicy and toasty facets, hints of nougat, toffee and treacle. Taste is intensely sweet dark malty, notes of malt lozenge, treacle, toffee, sweetness is passably hold at bay by dry, toasty malty notes, supported by some bitter hoppy overtones with tobacco touch; slightly sticky palate. Rich, intense and heavy.
