Inspired by West Coast IPAs, but brewed with Michigan style. The Crooked Tree is heavily dry hopped to give it a big aroma of pine and citrus. The flavors are big, yet very balanced between fresh hops and malt. Often described as "grapefruit" our hops give this beer an excellent fruit flavor that finishes dry.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a thin bit of white head. Lots of citrus, grapefruit and other tropical fruits. Also a slight bit of pine. Taste is medium-heavy bitter. Lots of pine and a good bit of citrus. Medium bodied with a somewhat creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, very bitter finish. Overall, it’s an awesome beer. I’m glad I got a 6pk so I can have more than one.

Tap @ Dark Horse. Gorgeous, neon, yellow orange appearance with a off white head and good lacing. Citrusy, mango, grapefruit, pineapple hoppy aroma. Great hoppy citrusy flavor with notes of mango, orange, and grapefruit. Very easy drinking- I could drink this all night.

Mmmm Hops, I can smell em as soon as I pop the cap off the bottle. Slightly cloudy deep amber color with a smallish white head that displays marginal retention. Smells citrusy with grapefruit, lemon and pineapple aromas trying to cover up a bready caramel malt sweetness. Taste is a bit harsh with hop resin, but also has citrus and bready malt backing it up a bit. Again I question just how long this bottle has been sitting on the store shelf because this doesn’t seem to be a fresh example of an IPA. Medium to light body and carbonation level with a slick resinous mouthfeel. Decent as is, but I think this is a better beer than what I am tasting tonight.

Bottle in the Detroit airport. Cloudy, murky medium to dark brown color with a low, fine head. Big citrus aroma, a bit tropical. Fruit salad flavor, caramel, somewhat tropical. Rich and tasty, with a nice peppery finish. Good stuff.

Deep orange to amber colour, chunky, lasting head. Smells very fruity, hoppy and sweet. Tastes very bitter, bit fruity, bit watery. Light body, good co2 - too bad it’s slightly watery.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy dark copper color, off-white head. Smell malts, lightly sweet, fruits and hops. Taste is not as good as I expected, a bit dry and ’earthy’. Medium bitter. A bit watery. Expected it to be better. Still decent though.

36 cl bottle, no BBE info
Aroma is sweet with biscuits, caramel and some hops. Flavour is sweeish with biscuits, caramel, some fruity hops and berries. Also hints of vegetablse and bready malt do occur at the end of the glass. Rather low on hops to be an American IPA.

Bottle at Brew Haven festival. Light hop aroma, not much else. Cloudy dark gold, off white head. Light hop balanced with a light malt flavor. Smooth light to medium body. This is a nice brew and an easy drinker, but nothing spectacular.
