Crooked Tree

Inspired by West Coast IPAs, but brewed with Michigan style. The Crooked Tree is heavily dry hopped to give it a big aroma of pine and citrus. The flavors are big, yet very balanced between fresh hops and malt. Often described as "grapefruit" our hops give this beer an excellent fruit flavor that finishes dry.

Pine, lemon zest, cereal, grapefruit, more resiny pine, light brown sugar. Quite dry and bitter. One of my early favourites.

Keg at BrewDog Lothian Road. Clear golden/amber body with a thick off-white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange rind, stone fruits and grain. Flavour of pine resin, grapefruit and bitter lemon. Medium body with an oily texture. Light fizz. A tasty beer that reminds me of Sixpoint’s Resin.

Hazy orange colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a fair amount of malt sweetness. Well balanced IPA woth a bitterness that grows in the aftertaste.

I got this in a trade with joe1510. Thanks Joe!
This pours a cloudy orange with a 2 finger head of foam with some good lacing. Head retention is average.
The smell is certainly big on the grapefruit. Behind the citrus, I can just detect some light maltines.
The taste surprised me a bit. The grapefruit is really strong here but there's more malt than I would have guessed from the smell. It still doesn't balance the hops but it's there along with a fruity flavour. The mouthfeel borders on medium, the carbonation is medium light, and it finishes with a sharp bitter bite.
This is an interesting IPA and pretty drinkable...I like the bitterness here; it kind of reminds me of Bridgeport IPA, which I'm very fond of. Good stuff.

Bottle. Misty amber colour, moderate off-white head. Low retention. Hoppy aroma: tropical fruit, citrus fruit, dank. Background honey malts. Light to medium body. Dry taste. Medium hop bitterness with notes of grapefruit, spruce. Long hoppy finish. Good

Bottle from Total Wine, South Richmond. Pours murky brown with a small off-white head. Floral aroma right off the bat, followed by bread and citrus. Flavor is apricot, some citrus, pine, resin. It’s fine.
