American Amber Ale is the second-ever beer created by Rogue’s brewmaster John Maier back in 1988. This tawny amber brew with a toffee aroma, delicate roasted malt notes and smooth finish displays what beer judges call the “perfect embodiment of an American Amber Ale."

Ingredients: water, barley malt (Great Western 2-Row Malt, C40, C150), Cascade hops, Pacman yeast.

Draught at Mel’s Craft Beers, Vienna.
Dark amber to copper, bit brownish body, with a medium, creamy, light beige head.
Aroma of roast, toast, dark berries, dried fruits, bread.
Taste follows this, with additional nutty notes.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, quite roasty, toasted, a bit fruity.

Nice, but nothing outstanding. Solid amber ale, with the expected aromas. Nice toastiness. Not among my favourite amber ales though.

355ml bottle, 5.3 % abv, at Flying Horse (JDW), Gatwick airport. Unclear apricot coloured body. Bubbly, off-white head. Fair lacing. Aromas of citrus and strawberries. Semi-sweet taste of herbal hops, bread and strawberries offset by a bittersweet tail. Pleasant (shared with Dag Erik, Knut and Johnny, 23.02.2015).
