American Amber Ale is the second-ever beer created by Rogue’s brewmaster John Maier back in 1988. This tawny amber brew with a toffee aroma, delicate roasted malt notes and smooth finish displays what beer judges call the “perfect embodiment of an American Amber Ale."

Ingredients: water, barley malt (Great Western 2-Row Malt, C40, C150), Cascade hops, Pacman yeast.

On tap @ De Wildeman. This is a good looking deep amber one, near clear in the glass and with a nice big lasting beige head. On the nose it has a nice sweet berry fruitiness, some stickiness detected but it smells quite nice. Tasty. It has a soft roasted element. That's at least the first thing I noticed with this one. In the mouth it's nice and mild oily while the carbonation is comfortably gentle. Just the way I like it. Quite flavorful amber. Hints of green coffee beans, it's slightly mouthdrying also. Hints of cocoa actually! Yeah, that's it. Dry cocoa powder. Lots of flavor. Highly enjoyed. 25.09.2014

Amber ist das Stichwort-flüssiger Bernstein, feiner Schaum. In der Nase Karamell, leichte Frucht. Genauso im Trunk, leicht bitter, feine Süße. Ganz lecker.

Review based on the BJCP015 guidelines (style 19A). Bottle 35cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: moderate, almost prominent hop roma with notes of floral, slight citric and some pine nature. mild fruitiness is perceived as slight orange. balanced sweet malt background with a toasty and caramelly character. APPEARANCE: ambar to dark ambar color and somewaht clear. Medium ivory head with medium to medium-low retention. FLAVOR: a blend of malt and hops with medium to medium low intensity, ranging from a malty sweet, biscuity, caramelly flavor and a floral and fruity hops. medium to medium-high bitterness that lingers beyond a semi-dry finish. the balance is almost even but tiltet towards a fruity hop resence. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: a good american amber ale with a balance between malt and hops, but still a tiny bit tilted towards hops. a nice example of marriage between the two ingredients.

Rogue Amber Ale 5% Can, a lovely bet pour with a malty peppery aroma with light fruit notes. Medium bodied and fairly smooth the taste is bitter malty biscuit with floral/fruity hoppiness. A solid beer that goes down smooth, somewhat hop forward but balanced.

Out of the bottle at Harry’s in Bermuda. Rich malt aroma. Faint chocolate noted. Hazy (chilled glass issue?) orange-copper like a subdued warm glow. Light tan head remains around the side and dusts the tops. Taste is moderate malt with a thinnish mouthfeel. Perhaps a little metal or blood hiding in the corners. Finishes dry and moderately bittering.

From a 473ml can on 13/9/2015 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a slightly opaque amber with a small head. Has a mild caramel and toffee malt aroma. Taste wise, there’s more caramel and toffee malt, some roasty notes, and a reasonably firm dash of hops. Medium bodies with average carbonation. A decent hoppy amber.

Amber colour, white head, slightest haze. Malty aroma, bread, light grapefruit, caramel. Quite sweet flavour, bitter hops, very fresh. Finish malts, bread dough, caramel, citrus hops, marmalade. Fresh and giving space to the malts. Nice!
