Full-flavoured ruby beer combing the best of Scottish barley and English hops, profoundly malty in aroma and flavours but balanced with a raisiny spiciness and toasty dryness. Distinctive fresh, slightly citrus tang with a rich finish.

Cask @ Thomsons. Copper colour, foamy off-white head. Nose is massive caramel malts, soft malty. Flavour is soft malty, caramel, slightly hoppy. Very thin bodied, flat carbonation. Poorly done.

Pleasant aroma of sweet fruit and malt. Texture is thin. Quite a bland flavour. It lacks a bit of bitterness.

Late evening full pint, hand pulled cask at The Albion, Hammersmith. Initial foamy white head, fully dissipating. Clear golden body. Aromas of sweet malts and resin-like hops. Taste of biscuit malts added by a fruity touch. Decent bitter end. Soft in the mouth. A nice one sitting outside the pub after a long day at the festival (London, 03.08.2011).

On tap @ Teuchtars. Pours amber with a big creamy head. The nose is basically biscuits. The taste has more biscuits, with oats (maybe hobnobs) and this gives way to cream. The palate is medium bodied and textured but it doesnโ€™t have a hoppy-clean finish, rather the finish is more if a bitter burnt malt, not pleasant. Overall, this is not great, but it got better, the more I drank it. Maybe thatโ€™s how people end up drinking bland beers most of the time - they drink it until it becomes acceptable.
