Full-flavoured ruby beer combing the best of Scottish barley and English hops, profoundly malty in aroma and flavours but balanced with a raisiny spiciness and toasty dryness. Distinctive fresh, slightly citrus tang with a rich finish.

Super looking golden ale with large creamy head. More of a regular bitter when drank but has a decent body and a fair bit of flavour in its bitterness.

Cask at Lichfield Vaults, Hereford, Saturday 7th July 2012 Bit gutted to arrive in Hereford only to find that the Festival had been cancelled just a hour or two earlier, flooded Grrrrrr.... Pours amber with slim white head, some fruitiness but predominantly its toffee with a little fizziness on the tongue and some bitterness. Served in good condition. Fine but no great shakes. Cask. Copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, bitter grassyness along with some nutty, fruity and wooden notes. Flavour is quite similar in a nice balance. Also some slight resiny notes as it warms up a bit.

Cask in the Hand in Hand, Brighton. It pours amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is hay, lemon, dough and dishwater. The taste is hay, lemon, lime, floral, dough, toasted malt and cereal. Medium body and soft carbonation. Easy going, if a bit unexciting.

Cask at the Waggon and Horses, Twyford. dark amber with a loose white head; biscuity malt aroma; soft and malty with a touch of caramel; and a dry, toasty, finish. A pleasant light bitter, in the malty Scottish style.
