Mikkel and Brian are two of the world’s most unconventional brewers. By designing beers at various breweries around the globe, they have found the freedom to experiment and innovate, resulting in unique beers that often blur the lines of definition. After having met at a festival in Bodegraven, NL the two realized that their first creations both were called Stateside. It was then an obvious decision to make the two recipes into a new product, packed full of piney, resinous hops, and backed by the esters of a farmhouse yeast strain.

Bottle at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 03/19/2011 from River City Cellars. Hazy orange body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet grapefruit and citrus hop aroma with some caramel. Big citrus and grapefruit flavor, some caramel and fruit. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a huge head of foam. Aromas are kinda lemony but faint... maybe a little grassy edge to them. Flavor is not great... the beer has a lemon and grass herbal presence with a hot alcohol feel to it. This one is a fail in my book.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Jetson! Pours a hazy golden appearance with a big fluffy, cream colored head. Musty, barnyard, light lemon, herbal aroma. A bit peppery, somewhat spicy, straw, light vanilla, straw flavor with a dry finish. Pretty nice Saison for a session ale.

Bottle: Poured a hazy deep orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some great lacing. Aroma of hoppy dry notes with semi-sweet Belgian malt base is quite nice. Taste is a complex mix between some hoppy dry notes with light cat pee notes which are well balanced against some sweet rustic malt notes. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Another solid offering from a brewer that I love more and more.

750 ml shared bottle @ @ Henrik, Bergen. Slightly hazy golden body with a white head. Delicate and quite light aroma of fruit, flower and spices. Flavor is light malt, citric fruit, spices and pleasant bitterness. Fine body and medium strength aftertaste. Quite complex and a bit unusually, but really pleasant. Could easy be taken for a Saison.

750 ml bottle purchased at Gomers in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The pour is a hazed golden yellow with not much off white head. The aroma is a dry malt wheat grain, some lemon citrus and peel, and a clove yeast. The taste is the clove yeast, nice full integrated malt body and the citrus is present as a nice spice. This certainly has the Stillwater house yeast character. The palate is medium bodied, nice unfiltered mouth feel and a clean dry finish.

Bottle - pour is hazy gold - nose is earthy, musky, tangy, with notes of peaches, apples, light barnyard - full carbonation in the mouth, bordering on abrasive - flavor, however, is nice - quite dry, with dusty yeast and soft, earthy grains - some flintiness and light funkiness - mild esters far in then back, as well as mellow notes of peach - finish is nicely dry - well done.
