Sampled from the tap at brewery. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has bread and pine with some sweet gains underlying. Flavor has more of the citrus rind note coming through with light bitterness and some grain backing.

Draft @ the brewery. Pours an amber red color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy aroma. Fruity malty caramel hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter caramel finish.

On tap at the brewery. Amber with a small head. Aroma and taste of malt, hops, caramel and light grain. The body was medium as was the bitterness. Some warming alcohol in the finish.

On tap at Council, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops and toasted caramel. Flavour brings out herbal, resinous hops and toasted caramel malt. Fairly astringent, with a really messy balance. Not totally convinced by this.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy copper with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is rye and caramel. Medium body, caramel, bread, resin finish, good.

Draught @ the brewpub. Aroma has hayish malt, resin and berry jam. Flavour has menthol, grapefruity hops, minerals and some resiny malt. Alcohol warmth is also present. Good.

[2/19/15] Draught at Council Brewing in San Diego. Nice clear dark red. Aroma of malt, caramel and some piney hops. Sweet malty flavor with a bit of caramel and piney hops bitterness. Medium-bodied.
