Brewed with Mikkeller

Rather than a typical Imperial Stout, which quickly decimates you and buries you in the yard, this delicate beauty wraps a warm scarf around your neck and just tightens it, ever… so… gently. Exclamation point optional, but preferred.

Draught at Mikkeller Stockholm. Nice full aroma of chocolate and coffee. Unfortunately the taste is rather thin and didn't live up to the promising aroma.

(Draught at Mikkeller Bar Stockholm, 11 Feb 2015) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, liquorice and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, black rye bread and a dry, balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. Light body, quite dry. On the thin side, but tasty and well made low alcohol "Russian imperial" stout. Quite nice.

Draft at Churchkey. Pretty much black, beige head. Aroma of coffee grounds, vanilla, smooth cocoa. Taste has espresso, molasses, toffee. Decent.

On tap @ Henrik. Yeah, it's almost what you can call black this, at least really deep and dark brown and it also has a mild brown lacing little top. I get lots of smoked tones in the aroma. Mild coffee dark with a soft roasted touch as well. A tad to smoked of my liking. Tastes strange this. It's both chalky and minerallish. I get burned matches and old bitter nuts. Really thin and disappointing in the mouth also. This was not for me. At all. Suspect this has a completely different flavor served fresh. 13.02.2014

Keg at Mikkeller, Stockholm. Perfectly black, beige head. Resinous coffee aroma. Dry with thin body and crisp to empty mouthfeel. Coffee and licorice, light spicy hops. Mid bitter finish. Thin, but with nice roasty flavours.

Black as night, beige head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, roasted malts, ash. Bitter flavour, coffee, caramel, ash, sweet roasted grain notes. Finish coffee, café au lait, malts. Rather light. Quite nice and interesting.

Mikkeller Vik. Three Floyds tap takeover. Keg share with loadsa Ratebeerians! Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and a little crisp. Mild dark malts. Watery coffee. Light finish. Thin and a bit dull.

Tap at Max’s. Chalky roast chocolate. Smooth and easy. Mellow molasses, almost licorice undertones. Brown black body, thin oily head. Easy going, exactly what I wanted in the afternoon.

Tap at Mikkeller. Opaque black, small off-white head. Cold coffee in the nose. Light-bodied. Watery porter with coffee and some caramel. Lacks about everything. But maybe this goes with food.
