Brewed with Mikkeller

Rather than a typical Imperial Stout, which quickly decimates you and buries you in the yard, this delicate beauty wraps a warm scarf around your neck and just tightens it, ever… so… gently. Exclamation point optional, but preferred.

Draught @ Mikkeller Bar
Aroma has cocoa and some coffee tones. Also some cocoa and vanilla. Feels ’cold’. Flavour has vichy, ash, some cocoa and cold coffee. Quite like stout mixed with water. But perhaps this is. Also some porridge and hay tones, Confusing stuff, but at least there is nothing offensive here.

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of mild roastiness, cocoa and some mild maltiness. Taste is smooth, watery and very light bodied with hints of roastiness and cocoa. Finish is just watery and very mild with hints of roasty malts and cold coffee. Very watery and light stout.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Nogne O Tap Takeover. Pours a murky black with a ring of beige head. Nose has a ton of burnt marshmellow, caramel, malt, vanilla. Flavor is the same, vanilla, caramel, molasses, burnt marshmellow, cracker, a little bit of rye, some smoke. Clean finish.

Tap at the Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Poured a clear dark brown with a round off white head. The aroma is light malt, mineral. The flavour is light bitter with a light, slightly watery malt, earthy light metallic, weak spice palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Not much happening here. I’m not a fan!

Draft at Churchkey. Russian Imperial Stout? 3.5%, what? Okay, well - this one poured a dark brown color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was roasted coffee notes, light caramel character, some sweetness, coffee. Touch soapy. Very light roast - not quite cold-pressed coffee, but pretty refreshing and interesting enough.

Some light roast. Palate is a little watery. Finishes with some crispness. Soft carbonation. Not as thick as some others of brand and overall light feel. Dark brown/black pour with ok head and lacing. Tap at Churchkey.

On tap at Mikkeller Stockholm. Black with a small tan head. Sweet aroma and taste of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and nuts. An ok one for being only 3,5%.

Draught @ Mikkeller Sthlm. Not much in common with the original Beer Geek beer. Way too sweet and one dimensional due to the heavy coffee notes.
