Abita Jockamo IPA® is an American IPA brewed with pale, red, and caramel malts. This copper-colored ale is liberally hopped and dry hopped with Willamette and Columbus hops. The flavor is bold like the “Mardi Gras Indians” who march through New Orleans in suits of feathers and beads.

Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate. The intense hop character adds more spice to the meal and makes it a perfect choice to team up with many spicy dishes. Cheddar and strong farmer cheeses stand up well to Jockamo’s hoppy character. Jockamo goes well with wild game, grilled meats and Thai or Mexican cuisine.

Pours hazy amber with a thick, light tan head. Scent is herbal, muted hops...caramel malt. Decent flavour, but really subdued as an IPA... Hop bittering is pretty mild.

Draft. Earthy orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with large head. Earthy orange malt and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Not bad for Abita.

Pours a copper-gold with mid-sized head. Aroma of hops, dominated by malt. Flavor is also overtaken by the malt, with floral, citrus hop undertones. A rather understated IPA, more in the English style than the American. Not bad.

Can. Pours a hazy amber coler with a small off white head and pretty good lacing. Aroma is absent. Flavor is strong on the malt (for an IPA) with piney resinous hops, some citrus and some spice. Fairly moderate body with a lingering bitterness. Overall, a rather average IPA with a fairly malty character.

12 ounce can. Copper colored liquid topped by a rocky beige head. Caramel malt nose with floral hop notes. Spicy toasted malt flavor with hints of ginger, vanilla and pepper. The hops come through in the midtaste and conjure hints of spruce and citrus. Long bitter finish. Overall, a nice IPA.

Clear copper color, steady off-white head. Sweet, berry-honeyish, hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied. Grassy, woody, a bit medicinal hoppyness in the flavor. Some odd spices?

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy orange with 1 finger of light tan head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops. Taste is lightly bitter. Medium bodied with a creamy and sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a bitter finish. Overall, not too bad. Wouldn’t seek it out but would possibly drink it again.
