Kriek de Ranke is an unsweetened cherry beer of mixed fermentation. It arises from a blend of old Flemish ale, lambic and 25 kilos of sour cherries/Hl.
Taste: Full cherry flavour, sour and thirst-quenching. Gentle oaky notes from oak-aging.

BOTTLE 75 CL. Cherry, and lots of other berries, a plain to see, along with some barnyard in the background. Green fruit acidity. The flavour is acidic, but well-rounded, green fruit, along with a light fruity sweetness - pretty much like any other lambic.

4th January 2015 - On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Deep pigeon’s blood ruby appearance, with a medium off-white/pinkish foam. Aroma is sour red fruits, cherry, citric notes, nice and persistent. Flavour is very sour, fruity (cherry) and tart. Medium body, long persistence. Well done!

Allegedly originated as a mistake when a De Ranke ale went sour and the brewers decided to keep it a sour beer by adding Girardin lambic and sour cherries. The result is a ’versnijbier’ (blend) with cherries and has become a true classic since. It has a nice brownish red colour, hazy, with a thin off-pink head: flavour is tart, a bit funky and complex with genuine stone fruit woodiness and a hint of fruit sweetness without sugar; long, sourishly dry finish. Wonderful.

Nice red hazy color, with a little pink head, disappearing. Smell is tart, must, wood, earth, acetic. Taste is very tart, sourish, sharp, very tanninic, clearly oak aged. Sharp acidity. Dry mouthfeel. Sure perfect in its style.

750ML from 2 years ago. I grabbed this for $25 USD @ Hunger Mountain Co-Op. blood red appearance. fluffy big bubbled head that fades fast. Smells like a traditional Kriek. tart, acidic, oaky. Nice very musty, oaky, moldy taste. Tons of intense nasty moldy wit a lot of yeast and sour cherries. Really interesting.
