Kriek de Ranke is an unsweetened cherry beer of mixed fermentation. It arises from a blend of old Flemish ale, lambic and 25 kilos of sour cherries/Hl.
Taste: Full cherry flavour, sour and thirst-quenching. Gentle oaky notes from oak-aging.

Bottle at home. Has a hazy red colour with a small pink head. Aroma of cherries, strawberries, earth and apple cider vinegar. Sour flavour of cherries, earth, lemon, forest floor and apple cider vinegar. Short aftertaste. Has a slick and soft mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Got a lot from the cherries and lambic, but has nice sweet undertones. Balanced and tasteful.

Red with little white head. Aroma is red wine cherries wood. Taste is sour dry cherries on old wood. Slightly bity. And cheap chocolate in the finish. Some tanines maybe. Sharpness later. Very nice and drinkable.

Bottle, 75cl. A lightly hazy candy-red beer with a pinkish white head of finger-thick size. Cherryish, lemony and lightly funky aroma. Barnyard, horse blanket and some cherry pits. It’s medium bodied, tart, yet lightly berry-sweet, smoothly carbonated and with a flavor dominated by sour cherries. Some candy notes, some cherry pits and a pleasant lemony, funky flavor. Cherry dominated finish. A very pleaseant beer indeed, but as expected it’s lacking some of the complexity found in the lambic krieks. Sort of refreshing and quenching still. 170604

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours hazy blood orange. Aroma is light sour cherry, wood, vinegar. Body is medium, fizzy carbonation, cherry stones, not as fruity or present as others. Tasty, but not a typical kriek, much more like a Lambic than others. Palate has some fruit and funk and sourness, but all not too dominant. Good.

Flasche (75 cl, MHD: 06/16). - Dunkles Kirschrot, rosafarbener Schaum.
