Kriek de Ranke is an unsweetened cherry beer of mixed fermentation. It arises from a blend of old Flemish ale, lambic and 25 kilos of sour cherries/Hl.
Taste: Full cherry flavour, sour and thirst-quenching. Gentle oaky notes from oak-aging.

On tap at Avenue Pub. Pours a dark ruby with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong cherry skin, wood, light funk. Thin mouth, tart cherry, strong funk, light, very good.

Beautiful beer, a dark red colour, a head is smaal and pink. Aroma has cherries, raspberries, some sourness and also cherry stones. Taste is more sour than aroma, sour cherries, cherry stones, white vine vinegar. Medium bodied, slightly sticky. Good-looking and good aroma, otherwise quite simple and sour cherry.

75cl bottle shared at home. Clear bright ruby colored with short lasting bubbly pink head. Cherries, red berries, dough, raw green vegetables, light yeast, sour milk, raw almonds, berry pits, light funk and soft spices. Light sour with long lasting almond and herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with low sparkly carbonation. Pretty nice beer, but light on the fruits maybe but very balanced and drinkable.

(On draught @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, July 27 2015) Pours hazy deep pink-red with moderate pale pink head and lace. Aroma sweet cherry pie filling with a tart edge, metallic notes, very little acidity. The palate is mildly sweet and mildly tart cherry flesh with a light lactic yoghurt acidity. Metallic astringency prominent from middle through finish. Lingering soft cherry flesh and lacto in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with average effervescent carb, easy drinking. Not particularly exciting to me, however.

750ml Bottle - Red in colour with a pinky white head. Cherries, strawberrries, wood and some musty notes in the aroma. Tangy, fruity and sharp taste with cherries dominating proceedings, although notes of damp wood, almonds and strawberries can also be detected.
