Voor de Wittoen vervangen we de hop door een aantal ouderwetse kruiden. Uiteindelijk bekomen we een subtiel gearomatiseerd, amberkleurig bier. Zeker proeven!

A old review from Feb 2017 - A 330ml bottle brought back from Belgium 18 months ago & stored in my cellar. Pours a cloudy amber colour with a big creamy off white head. Aromas of citrus & sweet malt. Tastes of citrus, pear, apricot, pineapple, wheat, nutmeg, cloves & sweet malt. The aftertaste is malty with hints of spice towards the mildly bitter finish.

Bottle 0,33 ltr: Fine but decent Tripel, with the famous Tripel looks, orange and its sweet perful taste.

Citrus aroma. Citric, creamy hoppy flavor, especially in the aftertaste. OK, but not world class.

Spiced tripel named after a 15th century Flemish knight. Off-white, dense and moussy, sticky head, very thick and rocky; darkish amber colour, brownish hue, cloudy. Estery and malty aroma of pear, apricot, pineapple, wheat, nutmeg, cake, dried leaves, cloves, mint, candi syrup and some cooked cabbage-like DMS. Sweetish onset, orangey and applish, caramelly backbone, candi sugar, spicier towards the finish with some ethereal retronasal, mint- and aniseed-like spiciness, strong carbo, dryish, herbally hopped finish, medium long. A bit different and far from bad.

18/V/14 - 33cl bottle from Willems (Grobbendonk) @ home - BB: 14/II/14 (2014-507) Thanks to Beerlover_Ben for doing my shopping!

Little cloudy dark orange to amber beer, big creamy solid white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit soapy, coriander, floral, grassy touch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, lots of orange peel, honey, bit sugary, oxidized, probably due to age so not taking that into account. Aftertaste: little bitter, honey, sugary, some orange peel, oxidized.

Bottle from Bier Paleis in Brugge. Pours hazy dark amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma seems dark fruit. Full bodied. Flavor is malt, yeast/spice and dark fruit. All kind of "cooked". Certainly not a standard light tripel with banana ester, but pretty drinkable.

Amber colour, rocky head, heavy carbonation. Sour, bitter and no aftertaste. A little bit metallic. Not very good.

33cl from Willems en Zoon, BB 02/14/2014.
