In tegenstelling tot de gewone Amstel kan ik de bock wel waarderen. Lekkere bittere smaak met lange afdronk. Mooie donkere kleur.

Opaque red brown colour, tan frothy head, a thin layer stays, good lacing. At first roasty, sweet toasted malts, than brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, clove, earthy. Taste medium sweet and bitter, stressing the bitter malt. Soft carbonation, medium body, more oily than creamy, bittersweet finish with extra-bitter accents to chew on at the end. One of the best Dutch bock beers, no surrender to the sweeties.

Can. Has a clear and deep nut brown colour with a creamy and beige, medium head. Aroma of dried fruit, heather and wood. The flavour is more sweet with some strange wood and chocolate. Has a slick and soft mouth feel, and a light bitterness. An okay bock, balanced but a bit strange.

I wonder whether this can still be called a bock beer, or even a beer. Sugar water or liquarice water seems to be a better description.

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Pours a clear dark brown with a reddish hue. The aroma is dry and malty, leading to a bitter, yeasty, alcoholic flavour with some liqourice notes on the palate and in the aftertaste. Not a sweet as some boks. Very drinkable and one of the better bokbiers.

Deep dark ruby colour with a beige head. Dark malt and a bit fruity nose. Medium to full body. Balanced sweetness. Toffee, fruity, caramel malt and some alcohol in the flavour.

33cl bottle thanks to Dutchdrebus. Clear ruby red color, small white head that leaves fair lacing. Smell malts and sweetness. Taste malts, sweetness, lightly metal. Plain and simple. Nohing really wrong but it doesn’t make me happy either.
