Draught @ APEX, Portland, OR
Pours pitch black with a foamy white head. Aroma of roasty malts, grassy hops, nuts, citrus and lemon. Taste is smooth, roasty and hoppy with notes of grass, citrus and nuts. Finish is roasty, grassy and bitter with some nutty notes. Quite stoaty for a black IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Turmoil™ on 08 Jun 2014 at 22:58 - Score: 7

Glass at APEX. Pours a pure black color with a medium light beige head. The aroma is big chocolate and pine. The flavor is fruity hops, pine, deep roast. Very balanced overall, leaning toward hops. Good.

On tap at Apex, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out more fruity notes than roasted malt, with a touch of hops detectable. Flavour brings out smooth dry roasted malts upfront, balanced by just enough hops to give it a slightly bitter profile and balance out the malt. Highly drinkable and well-crafted. Excellent stuff.

On tap at Barley Brown’s Baker City. Pours out almost black topped with a nice head. Aroma was great with lots of pine, citrus, and dark malts. Taste was just as good a great combo of hops and sweet malts.

Black pour. Malty flavour with a bitter hop skin. This is definitely an IPA. Hop citrus aroma with roast. Malt finish with more hop
