English IPA

Bridge Road Brewers have created their own take on a more traditional beer style – India Pale Ale, originally a heavily hopped beer developed for the long haul from England to India by boat.

Fresh hops were added to the barrel and the alcohol was bolstered to ensure the beer went the distance on the high seas. Bling, is a huge beer, with all the bells and whistles. This ale is armed to the teeth with hops and studded with 24 carrot modified malts. At Bridge Road we've gone all out to make an IPA that screams hops and malt but still keeps balance in mind. Try matching this beer it with anything spicy or enjoy this malt and hop mouth full on its own. We love it, and hope you can too.

330 ml bottle into glass. Robust hop nose, a little malt as well. Copper beer with solid two finger white head. A few bubbles ascending. Bitter chalky mouthfeel. Even more bitter finish. Leaves a beautiful floral hop aftertaste. Very nice.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Dark hazy amber pour - maybe too dark? Thick foamy, slightly yellowed head. Aroma is dank sweet fruity hops. Taste is big fruity and bitter hops. A bit muddled though - dank and bitter. Not bad though - lots of flavor, just seems to be missing some direction. Slightly vegetal finish. Tastes higher ABV than it is. Not bad but not great value here.

Bottle. Pours dark red, with a big creamy head. Aroma is fruity with orange peel and apricots, as well as caramel malts and grain. Full creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is quite bitter with orange peel, and nice notes of malt before a long rather bitter finish. A nicely balanced IPA.

330ml bottle. Copper amber colour, frothy off-white head and aroma of caramel, sweet melon & peach, yeasty. Taste is malt caramel with fruity peach, pine, hop resin and a lingering dry nutty earthy bitterness. Smooth slightly oily mouth feel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable IPA.

0.33l bottle @ Henrik. This is a heavy cloudy deep dark plum red one with a islandy off-white head. Really caramelly and sticky on the nose. Lots of sweetness and some resinous hops. Marzipan and almonds are also present in this aroma. Need I mention that it's on the sweet side of the scale? It has a mild oily mouthfeel and the carbonation level is about average. Nice flavors. It almost feels nutty bitter with lots of strong resinous hops. A strong malty base, caramel biscuits and "I want more" taste after the swallow. Ends light mouthdrying. Mhm, a good one. 08.03.2013

330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.8%. Dark amber colour, slightly hazy. Huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops, tropical fruits galore, also notes of citrus and crushed gooseberries. The medium sweet flavour has also plenty of fruity and piney hops throughout, with a bitter finish. Crystal malts in the background.
