20/X/14 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from Bierkompass (webshop, DE) @ home - BB: n/a (2014-1238)
Clear amber to red beer, small aery off-white irregular head, unstable, non adhesive, dissipates immediately. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, lots of bubble gum, sugary touch, cherries, cherry ice cream, some caramel. Aftertaste: alcohol, bitter hops, sugary, some strawberry jam, boozy, sticky. Not bad, but I expected much more of this...

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Bowery, New York, NY. A hazy amber/red coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, boozy, caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes similar, quite sweet, boozy, caramel, dark fruit, plum. Rather pleasant.

Bottle: Deep golden, floaties visible, no head to speak of; nutty, sugary, caramelly and raisiny-vinous nose; solid sweet flavour with a well hidden bitterness; solid sweet flavour with a well hidden bittterness, full bodied; some flavours in the finish as in the nose, completed by warming alcohol. Good, but not earth-shaking...

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Hazy deep reddish amber with a beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, a cookie note, fruits and alcohol. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly, a bit cookie-ish, with some fruitiness and some alcohol. Rounded mouthfeel.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy light brown color with a brief creamy beige head. Dark toffee malt nose with boozy overtones. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor has obvious toffee and dried fruit notes. Big warming alcohol throughout. Sticky and chewy mouthfeel. Complex fruity finish.

Bottle from Beer heaven. Malt dominates, semi-sweet aroma, some wood, and peat. Taste is more malt, burnt toast, oak barrel. Very abrupt finish and just a hint of alcohol warmth.

Decent barley wine. Nice taste of malt and dark dried fruits. Not very special though, expected more from it.
