375mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out the red wine barrels, with loads of caramel malt, raisins, dates, figs, candied sugar and booze - quite hot. Flavour has been nicely massaged into a dry vinous dominated one, with dried fruits, toffee and booze. Dry, vinous, boozy palate, with a sort of muted aftertaste. Excellent.

Bottle. Dark amber beer with a tan head. Caramel and red wine aroma with oak and vanilla. Caramel and light toffee flavor with oak, earth, and vanilla. Medium-plus bodied. Caramel and light fruitiness lingers with oak and earthiness.

Bottle @ dan’s house. Hazy, red violet appearance with a tan head. Rich caramel, toffee, light chocolate, slightly fruity, mild vinous aroma. Rich, quite mild red vinous, caramel, toffee, sweet malty flavor. Very nice beer that I’m enjoying way more than the normal version.

Bottle. Pours murky reddish amber. Tan head. Nose/taste of caramel, toffee, vinous notes, oak and almonds. Alcohol noticeable in finish, but not overpowering. Vinous notes are well balanced throughout. Mouth feel is mildly sticky at times. Medium to full body.

Courtesy of ksurkin. My favorite bottle format, green 0.375L with super wide cap, pours murky amber with copper edges and full mocha head. The aroma is big pine hops, earthy hops, sweet slick malts and some citrus hops that feed into tart red wine like notes. The taste has pulses of tart red wine and wood that are tempered by thick sweet malts and robust levels of pine hoppiness. Behind those notes some spicy hops and earthy hops seem to rattle around in the background. Into the finish sweet maltiness seems to roam around amid tart red wine and bitter hops.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours really dark amber with some beige bubbles for head. Aromais marvelously confusing. Reminds me of my old chemistry set. Seems to be a lot of oak. Full bodied. Vinous. Oaky. Oak kills the sweet. Not exactly sour - but Imperial Flemish Red Ale?

Pours a hazy ruby into a snifter. White head with little retention leaves pot lacing as it recedes to hug rim. Dark, dusty oak and pit fruit aromas. Sweet port and hot oak from front to back. Dry, sweet oak finish.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours reddish – red rather than amber – with a slight haze with an off-white head and a nice curtain of lacework. Tart barrel aroma, some acetone. Medium body, some sweet caramel and oak with a dry and slightly tart edge. Some heat in the finish. 160111
