Sour-Barrel-Aged Strong Ale
Boxer’s Revenge is a simple beer at heart. It’s a high gravity wort composed of malted barley, a little raw wheat, and just enough hops for balance. After primary fermentation in stainless steel with our mixed culture, we sent it to oak barrels for long term aging. Our latest batch spent 25 months in oak prior to blending and packaging. Our high gravity barrel-aged beers see extended time in oak to allow the flavors to mellow and integrate.
Fun fact — Boxer’s Revenge is the first beer we ever brewed in September of 2010. We released other beers before it since it’s barrel aged, but it was our first brew.
Another fun fact — the label art for Boxer’s Revenge was inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm. We like to pretend that Boxer the Horse escaped to open a brewery!

Draught @ Borefts 12. Hazy light orange color, almost no head. Aroma has a sour base with sweetish fruity hints and is lightly yeasty. Taste grapes, sourness, slightly tart, some fruityness. Low to medium carbonation and low to medium body.

Bottle at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours mostly clear gold with a fine, white cream head. Tangy, funky nose, some citrus. Medium sweet flavor, dry funk, light yeast. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Moderately dry finish, some funky bacteria, a bit of citrus. Pretty nice balance in here.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ Borefts 2012. Hazy golden with only some bubbles - nose medium full lactic sour, funk, lemon juice and very sour apple - taste is a wonderfully easy going lactic goodness, brett, wood, some light sweet honey and summer fruits - drinks like water - very easy, very simple, clean wonderful lactic sourness - this is the kind of beers I love, sour, full stuff, being simple is perfectly fine, drinking a 750 is a joy - a land beer

Bottle at Borefts. Cloudy amber pour with a thin white head. Sour yeasty aroma. Big sourness in the flavour with a strange moderate sweetness in the palate which softened the taste and made this beer more acceptable to some people that wouldn't normally go for this style. Served cool and very refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity sour tart funky citrus aroma. Fruity malty sour tart flavor with hints of citrus. Has a fruity sour tart citrus finish.
