Sour-Barrel-Aged Strong Ale
Boxer’s Revenge is a simple beer at heart. It’s a high gravity wort composed of malted barley, a little raw wheat, and just enough hops for balance. After primary fermentation in stainless steel with our mixed culture, we sent it to oak barrels for long term aging. Our latest batch spent 25 months in oak prior to blending and packaging. Our high gravity barrel-aged beers see extended time in oak to allow the flavors to mellow and integrate.
Fun fact — Boxer’s Revenge is the first beer we ever brewed in September of 2010. We released other beers before it since it’s barrel aged, but it was our first brew.
Another fun fact — the label art for Boxer’s Revenge was inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm. We like to pretend that Boxer the Horse escaped to open a brewery!

Bottle at Churchkey for the Craft Brewers Conference. Poured a nice cloudy golden straw color. Aroma was latic, tartness, yeast and some light woody notes. Flavor was plenty of tartness, yeast and some tropical fruits. Very refreshing, very vibrant and very bold.

Acquired in a trade, enjoyed at 55F in a wine glass
A - Impossible to get any sort of head even on a vigorous pour. Looks like still Lambic with a reddish brown hue.
S - Hint of vinegar, cherries and peaches. Some burnt notes and lots of acidic tones.
T - Tangerine / Grapefruit acidity up front followed by cherries and figs and the finish is a watery vinegar with peaches and oak.
M - Completely still, medium body
O - The 9% is so well hidden. It’s a great tasting beer and really enjoyable. Just wishing it was carbonated.

From 0.75l bottle @ Borefts 2012. This is a honey colored light hazy one with a small bubbly and sidesticking just off-white head. It has a vinegar-sour and fruity aroma with a little bit of farm, citrus fruits and a slight sweetens as well. It has a soft carbonation level and a oily mouthfeel. Soft sour with apple vine vinegar and citrus up front. It gives of a little burn in the throat. Suppose it's the vinegar, not the alcohol. I also get tones of sour white currants and wood. Not a favorite from Jester King, but quite tasty. Leaving my mouth quite astringent and dry. Don't think I could drink lot's of this. 28.09.2012

Sampled at GABF. Pours a hazy gold with some spitty, white head. Grassy nose, lemons, dandelion greens, herbal, band aid, lightly floral. Flavor is sweet, tart, grass, pithy, medicine cabinet, bandages. Full, tart, dry finish. Another home run. Big but an easy drinker.

Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, lactic acid, sour apple and pepper. Quite sour flavour, lactic acid, brett, light vinous, some wood. Quite fresh. Sour finish, lime and citrus. Very drinkable and fresh, nothing too special but definitely not lacking anything either.
