An early ale style, distinctive to its cologne appellation, from the days before lager beers. Appearing like a pilsner, delicate, gently fruity slightly sweet malty body and a delicate slice from Saaz hops.

Soft foam and clear gold body, weak grain with some sweetness on the nose. Flavour is nondescript dry grains, too chunky without the right kölsch smoothness. Not very good at all, harsh.

Draft - Light grains. Clear gold with a small white head. Light grains with a touch of sweetness. Meh.

On tap at Spinnakers, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of honey upfront, with light cereal malt. Flavour has subdued honey, cereal malt and biscuity notes. Crisp and easy to drink, but not authentic and interesting. Meh.
