30cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear dark copper/amber colour, lasting off white head. Aroma of smoke, salty bacon, some fruity notes, caramel. Flavour is light sweet, malty, caramel, smoked bacon, sweet and smokey bitter finish, some alcohol as well. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Just a bit too sweet imo.

Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s RBSG 2010 thanks to Brian from 12% imports. One of the smoother smoked ales I’ve had. Pours dark amber/brown. Nose is smoked meats, burnt wood and campfire embers. Taste is like mild barbecue, lots of smoke, a little ham (is that possible?), muted bitterness and roasted barley.

Hi Joris! Thanks for your talk at the pre-ZBF, I enjoyed it. Draught at Churcjkey. Copper color, huge off white head, solid lacing. Aroma of crispy bacon. Taste is barbecued baby back ribs and citrus, slight sour edge. Very nice.

Small yellow head, fast reduced to little rim, fed by well-carbonated, paler foxy-amber beer. Pure smoked ham, beechwood, salty or brine, vineleaves. Sweet-smoked, woodsmoke, (smoked) ham and yet again a tad of saltiness. Beer is unfortunately a bit thin, which enhances its malty sweetness just a bit too much. Again pretty carbonated feel. Very good smoked, if somewhat light in body. Then again, I’m a s*cker for a good Rauchbier...
