Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours copper with a 3 finger foamy beige/tan head. The aroma is smoke. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is smoked cheese. It’s delicious. It’s dry with reasonable bitter, but the smokiness is the raison d’etre. Smoked gouda. Yeah!

(Draught at Café Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 31 July 2010) Muddy brown colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, smokey nose with yeast, bacon, smoked ham and slightly sour aromas of old underwear. Malty, smokey taste with sweaty notes of bacon, smoked sausages and ham, hints of yeast. To be honest this is mainly weird and no real success. Quite nasty actually. I suspect this might have been a bad batch, so I’ll give it a new shot when found again.

Bottled from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Color, amber with white head. Aroma is smoke with malt hints. Taste, strongly smoke with some spices. Interesting beer.

Draught at Arendsnest. Muddy, shitty looking brown. Nice, rich smoked aroma, very maty. Sweet smokey flavor of caramel and chocolate, with burnt wood and a strongly bitter finish. A bit harsh, very sweet, with something like miso and lots of umami. Interesting, if not quite perfect.

Bottle at T’ Arendsnest, Amsterdam, Netherlands 21-06-10 Pours cloudy amber with off white head. This is smokey with just a slight sweet sourness, bit of warmth from the alcohol. Fine. A6 A3 F7 P3 Ov13 3.2

12oz bottle-pours an off white ring for a head and amber color. Aroma is smoke, medium malt. Taste is smoke, sweet medium malt, secondary spice hops.

Bottle, Pikkulintu, thanks Hanniku@Co. Poured hazy brown color. White small head. Nice aroma, quite malty and sligthly smoked. More smoke then in flavour, ash and hops. Not as good as the aroma promised. Ended slightly bitter.

(Bottle) Poured brown and hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma contained smoke, tar, smoked ham and malts. Palate was full bodied and bit dry with quite high carbonation. Flavours were smoke, tar, smoked ham, malts, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky and bitter.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a cream colored head. Nice smoke aroma with light saltiness/bacon. Smoke and sweet malt flavor. Medium bodied. Smoke and malt lingers with a light earthiness.
