Subtle aroma of dried leaves. Light brown, thin yellow head. Smoky hickory flavor. Solid rauchbier, noticeably different character from Schlenkerla, not edgy like American smoked beers.

33cl bottle. Pours a muddy brown colour with a nice sized head. The nose has smokey bacon crisps. The taste has more smokey bacon and a lemon zing on the end. The palate is medium bodied and creamy textured and a very zingy clean finish. Overall, this is a rauchbier for people who can’t do the full rauchbier thing.

Medium white head. Smoky tarry licorice aroma with spicy herbal notes. Dry-sweet roasty licorice and charcoal smoke taste with herbal alcoholic notes. Dryish licorice and smoky resiny tar aftertaste with roasty fruity notes. Lovely! Harmonic, full of flavour, and highly drinkable. (0.33l bottle, at Olympen, Oslo.)

Flaske 0,33l på Vertshuset Skarven i Tromsø. Dyp mørkebrun på farge. Siste kvelling er litt uklar. Høyt luftig skum. God røykaroma. Ikke påtrengende. Smaken er også litt forsiktig. Litt røyk, litt bacon. Svakt søtlig ettersmak. Sannsynligvis et utmerket matøl.

330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%, EBC 31.7, EBU 29.2. Stamwortgehalte 16 degrees. Cloudy brown colour, moderate to low off.white head. Strong aroma of smoked meat, with some faint sweetish malty notes in the background. The flavour has strong notes of smoke, with just the right maltiness and decent hops. Bitter finish. I am not a big fan of smoked beers, but this one was quite drinkable.

19/10/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 3/2013 (2011-566)

Pretty clear purple beer, small light beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet fruity first, dried fruits, then very clearly smoked ham and bacon. MF: very light carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus up front, bit fruity, smoke but not overwhelming, sweet malts, caramel. Aftertaste: some caramel, bitter hops, grapefruit, touch of pineapple, pretty bitter ending. Seriously well balanced rauchbier!

Lightly smoky smell. Medium brown and very cloudy. Unfiltered. Beige, creamy head. A bit muddy flavour. Also overripe/rotten fruit. Not too much smokyness to be noticed. Aftertaste is quite bitter. I guess if there was some beer made in Elbonia, this would be it. Looks like mud, tastes like mud. Sorry Emelisse, you blew this one.
