Rye Munich Ale: A Most Distinguished Efferyescent Potable of Total Consciousness
An experimental ale brewed with rye and Munich malt, fermented with the Weihenstephan yeast strain, giving it elements of a German wheat beer. A deep golden color with a shy white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has a zing of fresh ginger mixed with hints of spice and faint banana fragrances, alluding to the complexity of this unassuming ale. The flavor is sharp and crisp, laced with snappy ginger, spice, and citrus fruit qualities. Although refreshing overall, the intricate blend of flavors seem to linger on the palate, similar to the bitterness of hops.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled 11/15/2011. Pours a hazy and dense looking golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass, and a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of banana, lemon, fresh ginger, orange peel, clove, bread, and herbal spiciness. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. The ginger is very evident, and smells very authentic and fresh. Taste of ginger, clove, banana, lemon, pepper, orange zest, biscuit, and herbal spiciness. Lingering notes of pepper, clove, ginger, citrus, banana, and herbal spices on the finish for a while. Great flavor balance, and quite robust. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and thick mouthfeel. No alcohol presence noted at all for being almost 8%. Overall this is an excellent and very enjoyable experimental style from Shortβs(yet again). Plenty of flavor; with nice complexity, balance, and smooth drinking.

Dryish minty peachy gingery aftertaste with herbal notes. Nice, but a bit bitter. (0.75l bottle shared by gr0ve.)
