It’s as dark as it sounds! A historical event on a tiny island called Protection has given us this ghostly tale to fear.
Tasting Notes:
This delicious dark brown ale has a prominent malty profile, loaded with chocolate and caramel notes. There is restrained roastiness, balanced with a light handed hopping, allowing the malt flavours to shine through.

Black, small tan head. Great chocolate nose. Similar palate, sweet, hints of lactose with light bitterness in finish. Thin, but tasty

Great nitro foam, serious staying power, black smooth body. Dry chewy grain on the nose, hints of powdered cocoa. Flavour is chocolatey barley, more powdered cocoa, mouthfeel mostly full but not huge. Pretty good nonetheless, competently brewed.

On tap at White Sails, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of chocolate upfront, followed by a dry toasty malt backbone. Flavour is syrupy and chocolate-dominating, with lots of cocoa and a slight bitter astringency on the finish. Syrupy palate, which is pretty nice but makes it a tad cloying. Decent stuff.

Draft - Sweet dark chocolate, some syrupy notes. Jet black with a decent beige head. Rich chocolate syrup and a bitter sweet finish. Much too much like syrup, but still decent.
