ESTAMINET is now the name of PALM Breweries’ best “premium pils”.
ESTAMINET owes its premium quality to the selection of the best natural ingredients: soft water, 100% high-quality summer barley, a distinctive yeast and very precious Saaz hops. High density, slow and traditional bottom fermentation to provide a fruity character and maturation for 6 full weeks make ESTAMINET a true Belgian premium pils.

Small glass at the oude molstraat festival. Cheap. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. Ok pils but good for the price

Bottle from the Belgian Beer Weekend Osaka 2012. Deep gold with a nice, thick, fine head. Malty, bready nose, light citrus and grass hop character, a bit sugary. Ratherbsweet flavor, bread and sugar, a bit of hops, and ok bitterness. Drinkable but not inspiring. Nice bitterness lingers a while, though.

5/11/2011 on tap @ Oostende (2011-618) Thanks to Christophe for the beer!
Clear blond beer, very creamy white head, stable, adhesive with nice lacing. Aroma: bit grassy, some hops. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: little sweet malty, citrus touch, then crisp bitterness. Aftertaste: bitter, pretty dry, some citrus touches.

Draft at Lemmy’s. Just a bog standard pilsner. Nothing offensive but certainly not exciting.

Bottled. Pale yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready malts, mild fruityness, some grass and hay. Flavour is being quite similar with also some mild spicy/herbal notes to it. Decent pils.

Medium, fine-bubbled head over clear metallic golden beer. Dryish pale malts and some good hops’ aromas. Quite dry, quite hayish flavour, again noble hops. Finish with more hay, grassy, garden herbs and peppery. Quite slick, light to medium bodied, long dry aftertaste. Either my taste has changed, either Estaminet is night and day vis-à-vis the former Bock Pils, the utterly hateful industrial pilsner from Palm. This is really nice in its segment.

draft@bowling: totally shitty and crap tasting pilsner, on par or even below Maes, looks like it is made by Palm, ta-da, Palm has a pretty big distribution here, I have been seeing this one popping up more, I hope that it doesn’t become big or common or anything
