330ml bottle. Pitch black colour with small, reawakening, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, brown head. Spicy, fruity and sourish aroma has notes of blue grapes, soy sauce, balsamico, curry, ketchup. Taste is dry, tart, subtle sweet chocolate notes, hints of blue grapes, fruit parings, cautious hints of curry ketchup, flat carbonation, oily texture, sticky palate. Complex, unusual, but nothing I’m crazy about.

Expensive bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam, vintage 2011
33cl, batch PPAP04-1111, bbe 2015

Black color, with medium-high carbonation and very large head. Very interesting aroma, with roasted malts, dark chocolate, wood oven bread, light spices, and light acidity. Well structured, but with a lean and rather dry mouthfeel; good dry flavor of roasted malts, not aggressive, perfectly blended with a moderate sourness, mild vinous character, some dark chocolate. Smoother in the end.
Excellent; elegant.

Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Una gran birra, originale ed elegantissima!

Bottle at the Pre-Christmas CBC - Clerkenwell Tasting, London. Thanks to Colin for bringing this back from his Italian travels. Pours oily, black-brown with a tight, beige cream head. Burnt wood in the nose, light tangy fruits, cocoa. Rich bitter cocoa flavor, light burnt rubber, dirt, roast. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Dry finish with bittersweet cocoa, dark sugars, earth and dirt. Interesting impy stout. Not straight-ahead, so nice to something a little different.

Bottle at pre Xmas tasting (Dommus Birrae, Roma) - 21/12/12. Mid black with a thin tan head that retains well. Nose is bitter roast malts, sour tones, touch of smoke. Taste follows, bitter chocolate, dark malts. Medium bodied with light (over!) spritzyness in the carbonation, dry finish. A bit of a let down to be honest.

Bottle shared with Veitafan. Vintage 2010. Pours a pretty black colour with a frothy brown head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, dark wood, dried fruits, leather, black currant and nuts. The flavour is with more roasted coffee and some barbecue sauce. The mouthfeel is soft and oily, and has a medium bitterness. A wonderful and great imperial stout.

2010 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a massive brown head over a near black hued completely opaque body. Aromas show a lot of roast, chocolate, malty notes, coffee, molasses, light smoke and marshmallow. Very enticing aromas. Flavors are nutty and a bit smokey. Roasty with a bit more of an ashy presence than I like. Good malt character, low esters and low alcohol. Medium bodied, with slightly fuller carbonation.

Opaque black beer. Small tan head. Minerally dark malt nose. Fairly light palate, a little dry. Smooth dark malt that is not roasty or bitter. A licorice streak with subtle esters of banana and spicy bubblegum. Finishes with the malt getting sweeter but with a trace of coffee and more minerals.
