33cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours a dark brown-red color, with hardly any head. Aroma’s of sweet fruit, caramel, sticky toffee. Flavor has malty sweetness, sweet fruit and some caramel. Full bodied, but the high alcohol content is well hidden. Finishes rather bitter. Pretty nice, clearly stronger than a regular bock, but still has all the characteristics. Good.

Good yellow-brownish head, leaving lacerings over hazy deep red-brown beer. Old wood, dried (dark) fruits, caramel, brown candi sugar, beetjuice, raisinbread and alcohol. Pretty complex nose. Nearly harsh bitter onset, unsettling after the nose, but shant moments later the sweetness and alcohol bounce up in force. Still, the taste is better balanced than the nose. Flavours of preserved orange, strawberry, wood, ripe banana, nutmeg and cinnamonbark. Very well-bodied, oily-slick; rich & warming. Quite complex beer, more than most Doppelbocks. I had it (own fault) maybe a tad too cold, which might even culled its complexity a bit. Good work, Kees!

Draught at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Slightly sweeter than your average bock, but very much on style, with lots of butterscotch notes. Nice.

24th September 2010. Borefts Beer Festival.
Bottle. Hazy amber beer, little white head. Rich toffee malt. A little alcohol spice almost turning to heat. Some mild hop in the semi dry finish. Like this - could be even better with a little age.
