473mL can. Pours very murky dull gold with a white head. Piney hops and thick caramel malts on the nose. Flavour has a good amount of bitter piney hops, some floral notes, and thick malt base; quite bitter on the finish. A bit brutal and haphazard, but not bad.

Beautiful crystal clear amber and deep bronze coloured body with a very thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white and tan head that caps the clear amber body with zillions of small bubbles always rising from the bottom. Aroma of light malt, grain, caramelised sugars, earth, toffee and a kick of some deeper hop notes that show more of a Warrior, Simcoe or Tomahawk presence. Medium-bodied; Pretty rich graininess from the malts show at first with a dry and grassy kick as well and some pretty pungent bitterness, but seemingly from the malt instead of the hops. Aftertaste has some slight sweetness from toffee and caramelised sugars, but the majority of the flavours are the dry, grassy, earthy and especially nuttiness of the grainy malts with some noticeable alcohol warmth here, but no real hoppiness. Overall, this is an older school American [I know, it's 'Canadian'] Strong Ale and doesn't show much hops at all, but it's decent and at least has some bitterness. Nice to try once, but I wish I bought a different beer back home with me instead of this one! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from DenMan Beer Wine & Spirits in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 30-June-2022 (my birthday!) for CA$4,83 sampled at my house here in Washington on the other end of Canada and America on 21-August-2022.

Modest foam and a cloudy light orange body. Sweet candy hops on the nose, slightly farty, a bit of rancid cabbage soaked in honey. Flavour is good sweet hops, slight light grain, soft vegetal hints to balance. Smooth and oily, not boozy at all. Working well enough.

473ml can. Pours a hazy amber-orange with some yeast particles that sink to the bottom and a medium, foamy, short lived, ecru head that laces. Sweet aroma of biscuity caramel malt, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, pine and floral hops. Sweet flavour of biscuity caramel malt, grapefruit rind, orange, muddled tropical fruit, pine resin, floral and herbal hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Pretty solid.

Managed to miss this one the first 17 times it was released, so good to see it again. Dull amber colour, a bit hazy, and it has a thin head. There's a little bit of chewiness to the aroma, and some piney hop notes. On the palate, it's boozy right up the front, and retronasal and everywhere in between, meshing with a fair amount of hop bitterness. Unbright hops might have some marmalade sort of orange but the crystal malt is probably more prominent. Finishes alcoholic and bitter. So it does fit with what this pocket of DIPA is all about, it's just that pocket isn't that great to drink.

Tasting at Ilya. 650ml bottle from Denman liquor store. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, citruses, herbal notes. Taste is pretty the same with medium level of sweetness. Very good and quite unusual IIPA because of herbal notes.

2020-02-25, can, 6-4-5-1-11
Golden colour, hazy to cloudy, bright light, with medium sized head. Mild orange aroma, light malt, weed, manure. Some caramel flavour, a bit sticky, Crystal malt maybe; bitter orange from the hop, hop burn in the finish, strong chicory.
Old style and not even very well executed.
2014-10-26, bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver, 6-5-7-3-13=34
Orange to light amber color, bright, hazy, with compact generous head. Aroma of dusty malts, a bit of sweat, puke; nothing fascinating. Lean body; caramel flavor, at least it's not heavy or chewy, moderately sweet; strong bitterness, but the hop qualities are quite dull, dusty; there is just a hint if citrus, and a lot of hop resins.
Good beer, unexciting DIPA.
