Barrel aged for 26 months on a Stranahans Colorado Whiskey barrel.
It is hardly a secret that Hr. Frederiksen is the signature beer for Amager Bryghus, and we are happy to admit that this big, black beer is close to our hearts. It is also hardly a secret that we are very happy with Stranahan whiskey, from the small distillery in Denver, Colorado. With Hr. Frederiksen Colorado Whiskey Edition we combine two good things in one bottle, and we hope that you - dear beer lover - will enjoy the joyful combination of a rich and potent Imperial Stout from Amager's beautiful, rolling, green landscapes, which after 26 months in a Stranahan whiskey barrel is rounded off by the slightly sweet whiskey from Colorado's wild mountains.
Hr. Frederiksen Colorado Whiskey Edition is not a beer that you throw down your throat in excessive quantities at your local beaver drink. It is a delightful beer - preferably poured into a large goblet glass - for quiet contemplative evenings in front of the fireplace video, where you can calmly ponder life's big questions such as: is Bjarne Corydon really a sexier finance minister than Claus Hjort? And can't I reasonably demand a 50% discount on my souvlaki the next time I vacation in Crete? Yes, there are so many big questions in life. And to digest them, you can conveniently enjoy this great beer, which has tamed potency without ever ending up as a cuckold.

Bottle, 375ml corked. A more or less black one, with a minimal-sized tan head. Oily pour. Quite a lot of wood and whiskey on the nose, with roasted malts, vanilla, dark chocolate and coffee. Lots of flavor, especially from the cask, with whiskey and wood. Dark chocolate, roasted malts and a distinct alcohol touch . Warming on the palate, full-bodied and sweetish, very soft and oily. Lasting warming finish with lots of chocolate and roasted malts. Pretty wonderful, although a bit too warming. 131116

37,5 cl bottle @ olio, Batch #197: BBE 2022
Aroma has rubber, boozy notes, berries and some way too much roasted malt. Flavour has burned malt, rubber, some berries, whisky notes, some vanilla and hints of alcohol. Too much rubber with harsh bitterness.

375ml bottle from Γlbutikken, Copenhagen
BBE 2022 - Pours dark brown, almost black with tiny head. Aroma of strong leather and roasty notes, hints of oak, wood, alcohol and vanilla. Taste is sweet and roasty with malty notes, hints of oak, wood and alcohol. Finish is boozy and sticky with hints of roastiness, oak and malts. Unbalanced, quite sweet and sticky. The regular version is much better.

From a 37.5 cl bottle at home. Pours pitch black with a quickly vanishing dark tan head. Very little carbonation. Complex aroma of oak, raisins, and dark fruits. Flavor dominated by soft oak, sweet toffee and alcohol. Lingering finish with the same flavor notes.
