Bell Lager was the first Ugandan beer to be brewed in Uganda in 1950. It gets its name from the Port Bell pier where it is located along the shores of Lake Victoria.
It has been expertly brewed there ever since. It was also the first beer in Uganda to win the coveted gold medal in the international Monde Selection Quality award in 1992 and has consistently maintained its high quality standard from that time. It is currently Uganda Breweries Limited’s flagship beer and the number one premium lager in Uganda.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours clear golden amber with a medium white head. The nose is sweet dough, icing sugar, earth, hay and candy. The taste is sweet dough, paper, candy, vegetables, corn and straw with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty sweet stuff.... Best beer I’ve had from Uganda, but also the only....

Appearance: Clear golden color with a small white head. Light lacing (on a plastic glass).
Aroma: Moderate sweet malty, grainy, light hoppy and some vegetables.
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Grain, cooked vegetables and light hoppy.
Overall impression: A sunny lovely day in Birkelunden did not help this beer become anything else than a rb tick. Maybee a little bit better than expected. Could be nice on an even hotter and sunny day at the beach in Uganda.

50cl bottle shared by Cunningham - thanks a lot! Pours golden with a large, creamy head. Mild malty aroma with grain and hints of fruits, hops and vegetables. Moderate sweet and quite grainy with a very light bitterness in finish. Better than expected, quite standard pale lager.

500ml bottle. Pours gold with a medium, fluffy head. Aroma is corn and stale cardboard. Taste is a bit grassy to start with a cardboard finish.
