Bell Lager was the first Ugandan beer to be brewed in Uganda in 1950. It gets its name from the Port Bell pier where it is located along the shores of Lake Victoria.

It has been expertly brewed there ever since. It was also the first beer in Uganda to win the coveted gold medal in the international Monde Selection Quality award in 1992 and has consistently maintained its high quality standard from that time. It is currently Uganda Breweries Limited’s flagship beer and the number one premium lager in Uganda.

średnie i przeciętne piwo afrykańskie. Kenijski Tusker nadal nie do przebicia. Choć kształt butelki podobny to piwo jest sporo słabsze. Piana nawet spora i tworzy zarys na szklance. Aromat mało wyczuwalny, a smak lekki słodowy i trochę goryczkowy. Wysokie wysycenie

50cl bottle, pours a clear gold with some thin white head. Nose of artificial caramel candies, hay, white bread. Mouthfeel is harsher than the Nile, and not in a good way. Flavor of canned corn, gross artificial sweetness, malt extract, corn starch slurry.

Bottle courtesy of Nisse666. Pours clear pale yellow with a small white head that doesn’t leave much trace while dissipating. Smell is sweet with cereal, aspartame, banana bread, unripe plums and butter. Taste is sweet with cereal, butter, plums, green grapes, hay and dry soil. Mouthfeel is crisp, watery and light bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and tiny bitter with cereal, grass, plums and dry soil.

500ml Brown bottle drank during a German and lager tasting evening ( Aug 2011). The beer stood up well against some better known German Pilsners and Exports. It looked the typical lager/pilsner, very pale gold, clean and clear, on top the white head you’d expect. The smell was of grains with a slight malt sweetness becoming stronger as the cold beer began to warm a little in the glass. Regular crisp lager/pilsner feel and taste, the blend of hops and barley giving a refreshing, if uninspiring flavour to the brew. Would never have known it wasn’t a European lager/pilsner, so well done to who ever over sees the brewing. Better than your average lager (just).

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 21.10.11 Given this beer by a work colleague called Tim, cheers Tim! Pours very light in color, almost a silvery gold with a filmy white head. light cardboardy aroma on nose, I am strugging to describe this beer, it is totally non-descript , thin, watery, nothing there really.
