Don’t be fooled by the dark color, this brew is every bit an IPA. Dehusked black malt provides color and a mild roasted flavor without astringency, letting the hops shine - and shine they do. There’s over 4.5 pounds of Simcoe, Centennial and Citra per barrel, giving this beer bright citrus and fruit flavors in the nose and on the palate.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is pine hops some roast and a bit of citrus. Taste is more of the nice hop combo pine citrus some caramel roast and a nice light smoke. A little grapefruit pithy bitterness on the end.

Draft - Grapefruit and pine. Deep jet brown with a nice rich light brown head. Some dark malts and pine notes. Not really as dark and roasty as I like nor complex, but decent.

On tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out a good mix of roasted malt and piney hops. Flavour is similar, with a decent balance of roasted malt and piney hops. Could use a touch more roast but this is still well-done. Good.
