Bottle @ Barely Legal Tasting Room Pours dark brown . No foam possible ! Smell is pretty plastic-ish ( like a lot of the brewdog Abstrakts seem to have ) , and rather light . Taste is intense , roasted malts, chocolate aspect . Liquorice, sweet, some oats ( way in the back ) Low carbo, thin mouthfeel . Taste exactly like the line of AB’s , but is not nearly as expensive. An OK beer in general, but nothing to go wild for . When reading the fruits are in here, you can taste them, but its very well blended in, so in a blind tasting, I would have never guessed it .

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate with light fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt, softish. Undertone of caramel. Nice cherry - it’s rich but neither tart or sweet and not overpowering either. Finishes smooth. Very nicely joined up and quite a sumptuous beer. Right up there with the 2 or 3 best cherry stouts I can recall.

Bottle, Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Deep dark chestnutty brown pour with a miniscule tan head. Sweet nose of cherry, wood, roast and choc. Similar traits in the sweetish flavour with the cherry aspect coming together successfully. ABV well masked. Very drinkable and tasty stuff.

33cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl Appearance - opaque black with a thin fawn head that dissipates after a couple days minutes. The texture doesn’t appear thick or creamy though I was expecting this. Nose - booze and black cherry with dark chocolate in the background. Taste - more boozy Black Forest Gateau. Also alcoholic oak barrel flavours. Some brown sugar too. Actually the malt kicks in at their end and I’m left thinking barrabrith. Luscious Palate - medium to full bodied with a big boozy sweet texture through the middle section. The finish is still fresh relatively speaking. Overall - I don’t usually go for the barrel stuff but tgis works very well.

Bottle at The Ale House, Chelmsford. Deep brown colour with a dark red tint, and a decent tan head. Strong sweet chocolate and cherry aroma - like a bottled black forest gateaux. Full bodied, rich, soft carbonation, thick texture. A beer to savour not rush - very nice indeed, and one of my recent favourites.

Re-rate 25/08/14. Carbonation had come on a treat, nice gentle carbonation to it. Looks up to a 4. No other change, all good. 330ml bottle from the brewery?s online shop. Pours very dark brown, no head and a prickly carbonation. Big chocolate and cherry aromas, big chocolate and cherry taste. Nice lingering fruit flavour. Not as good as rhetoric one, but still a nice beer. 7/2/7/4/14 = 3.4
