Made with a blend of four different malts with a firm bitterness courtesy of local Kentish hops, it is a velvety smooth beer with dry, burnt flavours and cocoa and coffee notes.

Bottle from an online shop, drunk with a takeout pizza Speziale from a local Italian place - support those little guys. Very dark, black, with a small tan head. Nice roasted aroma, hints of cacao, smooth nose. The taste is creamy, nicely rounded, with an excellent dark toasted malt / coffee-like aftertaste melding with the hop bitterness. Not fancy, pastry, or trendy; but very enjoyable and easy drinking.

Now this is more like it Shepherd Neame, stick to what you are good at. Black beige head with very good retention and lacing. Roasted malts and chocolate, coffee, alcohol aroma. Taste combines these notes well. The body is strong and fairly smooth. Carbonation is a little too sparkling at first but I found if you air it long enough the level works well. Very good

Creamy tan head stayed on a jet black still body. Malt, nutty & roasted aroma. Medium bodied, tingly on the front with a creamy back. Sweet malty tastes with roasted, nutty, dark chocolate & liquorice followed by a bitter citrus finish.

Black with brown head. Aroma is vanilla light soy sauce melasses caramel. Taste is quite umami with thick soy sauce and dry coffee like bitterness. Smooth on the tongue. Not too heavy. Finish of more umami. Full body. Good.

Smell - weak, roast, chocolate, some cofee Foam - Thin, soft, some roast, bitter notes, dark chocolate. Medium large, brown, white chocolate milk, quite dark. Appearance - very dark brown, cant see through, some carbonation bubbles at sides. Taste - smooth, bit dry, some roast, chocolate, coffee, bitterness while present is actually not that bad. Decent, but nothing out of ordinary, maybe not my type.

Bottle. Beautiful opaque black with shades of brown and a decent beige head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of cocoa, roasted malts, a whiff of coffee and those british hops. Taste follows aroma plus a little bit of chocolate, tobacco/ashes and hints of smoke. Dry bitter finish (hops and chocolate). Slightly sour. Low to medium carbonation. Ok bordering on good.
