Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours black with a tan head. Mild chocolate aroma. Flavor is a bit like milky chocolate with some earthiness that’s likely coffee. Not dry, but makes me think it wants to be. Not bitter. Dark malt. Chocolate. Coffee notes. Smooth and delicious. Doesn’t work well with pretzels, but otherwise very nice.

Draft - Dark roast and some chocolate notes. Jet brown and black with a rich light brown head. Roasty, bitter and some dark chocolate notes. Very dry and bitter finish. Nice.

[2/15/15] Draught at Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco. Black with a creamy brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee and a milky hint. Roasty flavor with coffee and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied with a slightly weak nitro mouthfeel. Quite good.

Nitro draft pour at elliott bay pizza. Pours black with a ton of creamy head and lace. Easy coffee aroma. Flavor is a little smokey up front. Some chocolate flavor throughout, and a good kick too. Very creamy. Always love a good stout on nitro. Good beer here.

Black pour with thick beige head. Meets the hundred watt test. Too restrained aroma, some caramel and nut, maybe served a little too cold. Lekker roasty flavour with coffee, caramel and hop notes. A hop note in the finish.

Nitro tap at Crux, Bend, 23/05/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malt, light smoke, touch of chocolate. Taste comprises malt, dark chocolate, mineral notes, liqourice, good roasty bite. Medium bodied with oomph, fine carbonation, roast malt big in the finish. Solid enough stout.
