Stouts have a rich, deep and dark history— dating back over 400 years in Europe as a strong porter. Well, forget all that. Yes— this stout is classically dark, but close your eyes and take a sip. You’ll likely be surprised by how easy it is on the palate with notes of caramel, chocolate and roasted coffee driven by a wonderfully nuanced blend of dark crystal, black, roasted and chocolate malt. You won’t have the patience to save this one for a rainy day.

On tap at Portland taproom. Pours brown, almost black, with a thick beige nitro head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee, and toffee. Flavour has roasted malt, coffee, and slightly burnt caramel. Fantastic nitro stout, great flavour for a style that's normally pretty meek.

On nitro tap at Crux - PDX, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a medium creamy tan head. Aroma has a sort of briny, lightly toasty character. Flavour is full-bodied, with plenty of roasted malt, dry cocoa and a touch of coffee. Finishes roasty, chocolatey and nicely bitter. Not the most robust stout out there by any means; the nitro kind of dilutes it. But it has good depth and balance. Good stuff.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large, creamy, long lasting, light brown head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and light coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate, caramel, earth and ash in a dry, bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from Albertsons. Perfectly balanced stout. Beautiful pour, near black body, thick, creamy head.Soft roasty aroma follows through to taste, gentle roast malt bitterness. Very subdued, but hits all the right notes. Simple, yet elegant.

Appearance is very good with a huge frothy tan long lasting head. Aroma is dark roasty and dark ripe fruits. Flavor is similar to nose with licorice being prominent I don’t pick up much cocoa or coffee plenty of black patent malt. Great clean finish.

On Tap milk chocolate brown. Thin but dense creamy nitro head. Light roast armas and flavors. Tootsie rolls and chocolate. Light bodied and appropriate bitterness. Surprised at the ABV. Doesn’t feel that big.
