This Imperial Sweet Flanders Red was aged in once filled Napa Valley french oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. They added late harvest Zinfandel Berries and fermented with lacto and brett to lend a distinct tartness to the rich, deep red, malty body. There are notes of vanilla, toasted oak, ripe plum, and port wine. Enjoy this sour near room temperature in fluted glassware.

Bottle c&c, batch 1303, Vintage 2013, May 2015 release. Pours translucent and ruddy with a slight off-white head. Aroma is just musty for me. Med body or so. Flavor is quite tart/sour; there's malt that fits sour red/brown; there's some acidity. It's not entirely dry; not getting lead, but plum is in it - or some similar medium dark seeded fruit. Could be some Cabernet from the barrel I suppose. There's a trace hint of a BFM/solvent thing. Prior ratings are about 3 years old. I'm thinking this stuff has really improved over time. Pleasingly tart. Musty oak (ala BFM) is finally getting clearly discernible. My take: BFM would be proud to be able to bottle this!

On tap at the Tin Bucket. Pours a cloudy red brown with small creamy off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong acetone and hairspray. Medium mouth, very boozy, apple, acetone, odd.
